Enchanté Les Trois Français!

With the annual Franschhoek Bastille festival being celebrated on 12 and 13 July this year, La Motte is excited to reintroduce our stalwart trio of French-inspired wines. They are made for celebrating a heritage of everyday wine enjoyment and are versatile partners to food and fireside conversations.

Let's say enchanté

2025 La Famille Sauvignon Blanc

The 2025 vintage of La Motte’s popular Sauvignon Blanc is about more than capturing the flavours of what was an exceptional harvest.  In line with our programme of renewal, the wine’s label has been refreshed and a lovely new look and feel introduce the new vintage.

Now called La Famille (meaning family) Sauvignon Blanc, this popular white wine celebrates the fact that this Sauvignon Blanc joins each and every get-together at La Motte, making it an inherent part of our family – and therefor, also of yours!

Despite the changes to how it looks and sounds, this reliable wine with its natural acidity and fine texture, stays the refreshing glass of La Motte Sauvignon Blanc that is so often used as an aperitif, while being a trusted partner on the table when friends and family sit down to a meal.

Enjoy with spicy Asian flavours, Goat's cheese, Mediterranean vegetables or of course, seafood, such as our French-inspired recipe for a simple, but sophisticated Seared Line Fish with Leek Cream

2025 Vin de Joie Rosé

Inspired by the delicate pink wines of Provence, generous glasses of La Motte’s Vin de Joie Rosé are evocative of alfresco summer lunches with friends and family or balmy, romantic sunsets. We often picture our Vin de Joie glasses with condensation on the outside and tables filled with fresh salads and Mediterranean delicacies. What a delight!

Releasing our 2025 vintage during the winter months, however, brought us another joyful reason to pour this versatile wine. Served at a milder temperature, this delightful blend of 69% Grenache, 18% Mourvèdre, 9% Cinsault and 4% Shiraz offers a charming bouquet and marvellously mellow mouthfeel. Although more restrained when served well-chilled, the nose offers well-defined melon, grapefruit and nectarine as well as hint of sweet candy floss – especially in the young wine. Remarkably rounded on the palate for a dry wine, it has a subtle minerality and lingering finish of fresh nectarine to ensure every glassful offers graceful elegance.

We know you love a refreshing glass with simple salads, charcuterie and fresh seafood, but do remember that a generous pour of the 2025 Vin de Joie Rosé also embraces wintery options such as paella with saffron and a classic seafood soup such as this French Fish Soup with Red Pepper Rouille (Soupe de Poisson).

2022 La Motte Millennium

La Motte’s acclaimed Millennium is based on the famous red wines of Bordeaux and therefore this classic blend of Merlot (65%), Cabernet Franc (25%), Cabernet Sauvignon (6%) and Petit Verdot (4%), matured in 300-litre French oak barrels for 12 months is a beautiful partner to some classic French recipes.

Expect aromatic blackberries and plums with nuances of fruit cake and dark toffee flavours. The well-considered barrel maturation contributes hints of cloves and charred oak to the medium full palate with its soft, but lively tannins and a lingering berry aftertaste.

A trusted choice for quiet fireside conversations, dinner table debates or festive get-togethers, the 2022 La Motte Millennium is also an exceptionally versatile partner to food. Do try it with local champions such as  lamb chops on the braai, ostrich sosaties and even wintery vegetable dishes, but don't forget about its French food friends. It loves a cassoulet and chateaubriand and for the ultimate pairing, try it with our Mushroom Bourguignon!
