Senior Chef de Partie – JAN Franschhoek

JAN Franschhoek, a proud collaboration between La Motte Wine Estate and Michelinstarred chef Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen, is seeking a passionate Senior Chef de Partie to join our culinary team for the 2025/2026 season. This unique culinary offering brings together heritage, innovation, and world-class hospitality in a spectacular Winelands setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head Chef in executing a highly curated, seasonal tasting menu
  • Lead a section of the kitchen with precision, efficiency, and creativity
  • Ensure consistency in taste, quality, presentation, and cleanliness
  • Uphold the highest standards of food hygiene and kitchen safety
  • Mentor junior chefs and contribute to a culture of excellence and teamwork

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a fine dining kitchen
  • Strong knowledge of classical and contemporary culinary techniques
  • Excellent plating and presentation skills with a strong eye for detail
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure during service
  • Passion for South African ingredients, wine, and elevated cuisine
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, and team-oriented
  • Reliable own transport (essential)
  • Ability to work long, demanding hours in a fast-paced environment

Restaurant Manager – JAN Franschhoek

This unique culinary offering brings together heritage, innovation, and world-class hospitality in a spectacular Winelands setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To ensure the table is set with precision, consistency, and elegance
  • Manage and oversee all front-of-house operations during service
  • Lead, inspire, and support a small, high-performance service team
  • Ensure seamless coordination between the kitchen and service
  • Uphold brand values and attention to detail in every guest interaction
  • Manage stock
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Compile feedback reports

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in managing a fine dining or luxury hospitality environment
  • In-depth knowledge of food, cuisine, and South African wines
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to work long, demanding hours in a fast-paced environment
  • Own reliable transport (essential)

Baker

La Motte Artisanal Bakery and Garden Café requires a vibrant person, with an abundance of energy and enthusiasm to join the team as a Baker.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • handcraft a variety of artisan breads
  • utilise traditional baking techniques
  • work with a range of natural ingredients and maintain the integrity of the products
  • stock control
  • assisting in general kitchen
  • adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times
  • maintaining a clean and organised workspace

Applications are awaited from persons who comply with the following:

  • grade 12
  • minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar position
  • proven experience as an artisan baker, with understanding of traditional and modern baking methods
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • strong work ethic with ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • passionate about client service
  • own transport
  • willingness to work early mornings, weekends and public holidays
