Wage Clerk

Historic Wines of the Cape in the Franschhoek Valley are seeking a detail-oriented Wage Clerk to join our HR team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • process and manage wages
  • ensure accurate and timely payment of wages
  • maintain and update employee personal records
  • prepare and distribute payslips
  • prepare monthly journals and reports for the finance department
  • handle employee inquiries regarding payroll
  • monthly EMP201 and other statutory returns
  • UIF claims * pension fund administration
  • administering of the clock system
  • filing documentation
  • handling audit queries
  • all other ad hoc financial and administrative tasks

Applications are awaited from personnel who comply with the following:

  • at least three years of experience in a similar position
  • at least 1-year "VIP People" experience
  • matric and an appropriate tertiary qualification
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • the ability to work well in a team
  • strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • excellent excel skills
  • computer literacy above average
  • knowledge of South African employment laws and legislation
  • ability to handle sensitive information confidentially

Pastry Chef

La Motte Wine Farm in the Franschhoek Valley requires a passionate Pastry Chef to join the Bakery team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Daily running and overseeing of all pastry preparations
  • Work closely with the Head Chef to create innovative desserts, pastries, and confectionary items
  • Continuously explore new techniques, flavours and trends in pastry-making to keep menu fresh and exciting
  • Staff management
  • Inventory and stock management

  • Degree or diploma in culinary arts
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in a senior role
  • An extensive repertoire of pastry and confectionary techniques and trends
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to function as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with challenging deadlines
  • Willingness to work on weekends and public holidays
  • Own transport
