Warehouse Manager

Historic Wines of the Cape is seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to oversee operations at our Montague Gardens warehouse.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • manage day-to-day warehouse operations
  • stock control and ensuring proper record keeping is in place
  • ensuring proper processes and procedures are followed
  • monitor warehouse systems, documentation, and reporting
  • maintain high standards of health, safety, and housekeeping
  • staff management
  • coordinate with logistics, sales, and suppliers to ensure efficient order fulfilment
  • minimise losses, damages, and discrepancies
  • liaison with clients

The following criteria apply

  • 5 year’s experience in a similar role
  • strong knowledge of warehouse processes, stock control, and logistics
  • experience managing and leading a team
  • excellent communication skills (English and Afrikaans)
  • excellent computer literacy (MS Excel required)
  • experience in the wine, FMCG, or beverage industry will be an advantage

Financial Manager

Historic Wines of the Cape, situated in the Franschhoek Valley, requires a dynamic individual with a strong accounting background to join our finance team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • execution of all accounting reconciliations for multiple entities
  • debtors and Creditors team Management
  • management of the month-end process, including to prepare and review the monthly financial management reports
  • reviewing creditors, cash-book and petty cash
  • preparation and maintenance of the fixed asset registry
  • management of fixed assets and capital expenditure
  • compilation of financial year-end schedules
  • manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
  • other ad hoc administrative and financial duties

The following criteria apply

  • an appropriate tertiary qualification eg. B.Com (Accounting)
  • minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role
  • strong knowledge of IFRS for SME and South African tax legislation
  • advanced Excel skills; ERP experience (e.g. Business Central)
  • excellent communication and people skills
  • strong work discipline with the ability to cope under pressure
  • computer literacy above average
  • experience in the wine industry will be advantageous, but is not a requirement

Brand Ambassador (La Motte Wine Estate and Leopard’s Leap Wines) / Western Cape

A dedicated person with a positive outlook and spontaneous personality, who has excellent knowledge of the South African wine industry, is required to join the Sales Team of Historic Wines of the Cape

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following and report to the Sales Director/Sales Manager:

  • identify sales opportunities
  • liaising and promoting customer relationships
  • developing product knowledge through waiter training, customer wine tastings, etc.
  • expanding the sales and marketing strategies of La Motte and Leopard’s Leap
  • sharing market research with the Sales -, Brand - and Marketing Manager
  • supporting the brand in the market through quality assurance and compliance with branding guidelines
  • monitoring and implementation of promotional activities
  • general office administration

Applications are awaited from persons who comply with the following:

  • minimum of 5 years’ similar experience, with a strong focus on the on-trade; retail and liquor experience is also required
  • a relevant tertiary qualification
  • excellent communication skills
  • professional appearance and conduct
  • excellent knowledge of wine and the wine industry
  • willingness to travel for work

E-commerce and Direct-to-Consumer Coordinator

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • manage and maintain the online stores for both brands
  • oversee product listings, pricing, photography, descriptions, and online promotions
  • plan and execute digital campaigns to drive traffic, conversions, and online sales
  • coordinate with logistics teams and courier partners to ensure timely order fulfillment
  • monitor and manage customer interactions to ensure a seamless and positive shopping experience
  • engage directly with customers to build brand loyalty and repeat sales
  • coordinate and participate in DTC events, tastings, and activations, ensuring a consistent and engaging brand experience

  • degree or Diploma in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • at least 3 years’ experience in a similar e-commerce or DTC role
  • proven success managing online sales platforms and digital marketing campaigns
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • excellent customer relationships
  • a proactive and positive attitude with a passion for customer engagement
