As part of Shiraz South Africa's week-long celebration of Shiraz, La Motte will offer a special Syrah tasting as part of its regular line-up in the estate's Tasting Room.
The La Motte Syrah Tasting will consist of four wines presented by one of the estate's well-informed and enthusiastic Wine Tasting Ambassadors, showcasing the diversity and versatility of this exceptional variety.
Hailed as an exceptional South African vintage, 2009 produced some beautiful red wines. The 2009 La Motte Shiraz received recognition with gold medals in the Veritas Awards, Concours Mondial de Bruxelles as well as the China Wine and Spirits competition. It also received a four and a half star John Platter rating and was acknowledged as one of the Top 100 Wines of South Africa.
Years of experience in producing this variety have enabled La Motte to combine the grapes of a number of cool terroirs to capture juicy berry-fruit, sweet liquorice, violet flowers and pepper spice. Traditionally a very bold variety, this rewarding Syrah has been refined into a medium-bodied, highly accessible wine.
This red-and-white blend with its rich, fruity style balances the structure and spice of Syrah with subtle floral nuances from the Viognier. A versatile partner on the dinner table, the wine has exceptional maturation potential and has received acclaim as one of South Africa's Top 100 Wines with a Double Platinum award, Double Gold in the Veritas wine awards and Gold in the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show. It received 100 points in the SA Wine Index and was one of the Shiraz SA Wine Challenge Top 12.
Only produced in exceptional vintages, the limited release Hanneli R combines a special vintage with 40 months of wood maturation for a wine of exceptional depth, complexity and personality.
