Inspired by La Motte’s owner Hanneli Rupert-Koegelenberg; an internationally renowned mezzo-soprano, La Motte’s close association with classical music is celebrated by a programme of monthly classical music concerts presented in the beautiful Historic Cellar on the estate.
An impressive line-up of both local and international artists will perform in the upcoming months with a programme that varies from a baroque flute and harpsichord duo, piano recitals and an Easter programme of arias and reflective works for soprano and obbligato instruments.
- The upcoming February concert features Verena Fischer (baroque flute) & Erik Dippenaar (harpsichord).
- March sees the Pauna-Redfern Piano Duo whose debut performance at La Motte includes works by Mendelssohn, Beethoven and Stravinsky.
- The April concert features My Top Billing Dream finalist, Lynelle Kenned who will be performing Easter Lamentations, accompanied by Albert Combrink (piano), Sally Minter (flute) and Sarah Acres (cello).
- In May, Famous Steinway artist, Antonio Pompa-Baldi will conclude this first semester programme with a performance on La Motte’s 1942 model C Steinway, one of the last Steinway pianos manufactured in Hamburg before the closing of the factory due to World War II.
Concerts start at 19:00, performances last for one hour and guests are invited to stay for a glass of La Motte wine. Those who would like to enjoy dinner afterwards at one of Eat Out’s top ten restaurants, Pierneef à La Motte, are urged to make a reservation beforehand.
