One would expect some quiet and calm after the rush of harvest and while balmy Autumn weather begs you to sit back and enjoy the splendour of changing colours in the La Motte gardens, there is also the antics of squirrels ensuring a charming energy on the estate.
While they scurry to stock up for Winter, we invite you to bring your friends for lunch at L’Ami Family Brasserie, taste our latest vintages or enjoy our beautiful bread-based menu at the Bakery. Kids can entertain themselves on giant acorns and collect their own Autumn treasures between the oak trees or in a wonderful farmyard inspired playpark.
Don’t leave without the inspiration of autumnal art in the Ateljee, some seasonal shopping such as organic Karoo Lamb from the Spens or the most charming acorn-inspired baskets and wooden boards from the Farm Shop that will make for a treasured gift or special touch of décor.
Autumn in Art
We are delighted to announce a new seasonal exhibition in the recently introduced Ateljee on the estate. Entitled Landmarks, this exhibition focuses on an autumnal theme with leatherwork and watercolour painting and will run from 29 March to 8 June.
Continuing the La Motte family’s passion for art, the Ateljee, meaning studio in Afrikaans, is a creative space to engage with artworks, artists and makers. It invites guests to enjoy an exhibition inspired by Autumn, to meet the makers, experience the creative processes and even participate in the creation.
Breaking Bread
Seasonal breads have become something to look forward to since we opened the La Motte Bakery. With the end of harvest-time and no more fresh must for the popular Mosbolletjie, it is replaced by another beautiful bread – our Easter wreath.
This beautiful, brioche-style braided wreath is decorated with delicate almond slivers. Use it as a centrepiece on your Easter Table of just enjoy with a lovely cup of coffee or tea - or even an alluring glass of La Motte Cap Classique!
