Roses have become synonymous with La Motte as guests are welcomed by the abundance of roses along the pathways and vineyards when they enter the estate. These iconic deep, coral-orange roses have been cultivated by South African rose-authority, Ludwig Taschner and named in honour of La Motte's owner, Hanneli Rupert.
It is also Ludwig’s daughter, Heike Taschner Jeske, who as an artist explores the construction and symbolism of the special flower that is the rose. Blossoming from Heike's immersive and talking-point rose installation in the La Motte Reception, the new exhibition is entitled, ROSE’D.
With the Hanneli Rupert rose being in peak bloom from October, the estate is presenting this exhibition for the summer months and festive season, from October to March.
Including a wider community, La Motte is now also inviting artists to contribute original work on paper in response to the theme, Flourish, to be exhibited alongside Heike’s work.
