March on La Motte

Late summer is the most charming season at La Motte. Harvest activities are still in full swing, but the energy is calm, cheerful and inviting. Choose to participate in the seasonal activities, relax under an age-old oak or enjoy all that is delicious to eat and drink from the charming Bakery, friendly new L’Ami Family Brasserie or if you are lucky enough to have a reservation, at the special table of JAN Franschhoek. Sip on your favourite summertime Sauvignon Blanc, shop for local treasures or even take on the mountainside hiking trail, but don’t miss March on La Motte!

Come together

L'Ami means "my friend" and our new L'Ami Family Brasserie is all about bringing friends and family together around a table, enjoying beautiful food, delicious wines and each other's company in a lovely, tranquil environment.

What's on the menu? We celebrate the rich culinary traditions and flavours of our French heritage and South African culture with a menu inspired by seasonal, local ingredients and the artistry of open-fire cooking.

Enjoy an à la carte menu for lunch from Wednesday to Sunday or join us for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays.

Luxury in the little things

Luxury is often in the small treats rather than the big gestures and it is in a tiny cottage around a single 18-seater table, where guests to JAN Franschhoek experience the true meaning of luxury – time, care and attention to detail.

No surprise then, that this exceptional seasonal food and experience was recently acknowledged with Two Stars from the star-studded Luxe Restaurant Awards!

While Season III is sold out, keep an eye out for more information about Season IV to be announced later this year and make sure to join our mailing list, to get the news first!

Loving local living

Supporting local artists and artisans are about more than having a heart for local communities. It is also about finding joy in beauty when it comes from people and places we care about as well as appreciating authenticity and quality.

Whether you browse the extensive selection of locally produced treasures in our exquisite new Farm Shop, indulge in the bounty of local late-summer ingredients and harvest-inspired treats from the Spens or Bakery or find your creativity come alive in the artistic environment of the Ateljee, at La Motte you’ll realise that there are plenty of reasons to love local!

Notions on the harvest

Halfway into the harvest, Cellarmaster Edmund Terblanche smiles when asked about the potential of the 2025 vintage.

“Initial expectations were high after an ideal growing season. Despite some wind and seasonal heat, we’ve been fortunate to escape veld fires, had temperatures cool down overnight and our team remained healthy and dedicated for early mornings in the vineyards and late nights in the cellar. The flavours and analyses are very promising!”

Join us for the La Motte Harvest Experience until the end of March.
