There are many ways to stay warm during winter, but few of them beat the comfort and nostalgia of a fireplace, a glass of wine and a steaming bowl of soup.
Join us at La Motte to tick all these boxes or recreate the experience at home by ordering your favourite La Motte wine online and try our wonderful repertoire of recipes!
Winter at L’Ami
It is L’Ami Family Brasserie’s first winter and we are excited to light the fires, pour beautiful glasses of wine and invite you to warm up in front of our cosy fireplace and explore our winter menu.
Hearty winter fare includes venison, a soup of the day, West Coast mussels, confit duck, mushroom risotto, lamb shank and seasonal innovations with pumpkin, citrus and guava.
Winter is also the ideal time to bring your sweet tooth! We make much more of Malva and stay true to our traditional favourites such as Japie se Gunsteling!
Please note that L'Ami will be closed for a winter break from 30 June to 23 July.
The King’s Bread
We are not only talking about the royal selection of freshly-baked breads from the La Motte Bakery! We also refer to our much-loved King’s Bread Soup. Since it first made an appearance on our winter menu, this hearty lunch has stayed a favourite.
Substantial, bursting with flavour and an absolute treat with a glass of La Motte Chardonnay, this soup joins other casual winter offerings such as braised beef cheeks, a bacon and pea carbonara and the ultimate winter dessert, Roly Poly!
Please note that the La Motte Bakery will be closed for a winter break from 16 June to 9 July.
Introducing La Famille Sauvignon Blanc
This year, the new vintage release of La Motte’s popular Sauvignon Blanc is about more than capturing the flavours of what was an exceptional 2025 harvest.
In line with our programme of renewal, the wine’s label has been refreshed for a lovely new look and feel. The wine is also now called La Motte La Famille Sauvignon Blanc, celebrating the fact that this bottle of white joins us at each and every get-together, making it an inherent part of our family!
Despite the changes to how it looks and sounds, this reliable wine with its natural acidity and fine texture, stays the refreshing glass that we so often use as a welcome drink and the trusted partner on the table when friends and family sit down to a meal.
Simmer, sip and stay warm
While a steaming bowl of soup is one of the best meals to warm us up when cool weather sets in, there is also something nostalgic about this winter staple.
Most of us have a favourite soup recipe or memory, whether it is a chunky cup next to the sport field, an elegant consommé on a special occasion or the healing properties of a wholesome bowl.
Join us at La Motte or try some of our soup recipes (and wine pairings!) at home for delicious winter entertaining.
